**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the Transnet Academy’s financial
performance in line with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), Group Finance requirements and relevant
- legislation and regulation
- Ensure the financial sustainability of the Transnet Academy over the long term through continuous testing of the business
strategy against a financially sustainable balance sheet
- Provide enterprise-wide financial insights, analytics and projections to inform strategic planning and facilitate responsible
growth
- Develop, manage and maintain the revenue generation, pricing and costing models
- Required to support the Transnet Academy’s business operations in achieving its strategic objectives
- Ensure effective planning and management of Opex and Capex budgets and adequate provision for cashflow to enable daily
management of the business
- Ensure effective mitigation of financial risk through the provision of integrated financial insights, analytics and projections
**_ Position outputs:_**
Strategic Financial Management
- Perform financial analysis, prepare financial forecasts, and advise senior management on
strategic planning
- Provide information such as economic indicators, financial analysis and regulatory
information as inputs to the formulation of the business strategy
- Provide integrated financial insight and projections for mitigation of financial risk to ensure
the financial sustainability of the business
- Develop and regularly update revenue generation, pricing and costing models required to
support the Transnet Academy in achieving its strategic objectives
- Advise and assist senior management with financial decision making and implementing
strategies to reduce cost of operations
- Provide focused strategic, tactical and analytical financial support to the Faculties and departments of the Transnet
Academy
- Financial Performance Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the Transnet Academy’s financial
performance in line with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), Group Finance
- requirements, and relevant legislation and regulation
- Ensure that the quality and integrity of reports and information provided is up to standard and able to withstand scrutiny
- Review management accounts and financial reports prepared for the Academy Leadership Team
Planning and budgeting
- Analyse key financial data and information to inform and optimise financial planning
- Manage the total budgeting process of the Academy and ensure optimal distribution of
funds in line with business priorities and imperatives
- Manage budget consolidation, review and analysis
- Develop cash forecasts and financial estimates to ensure sound financial management of the business on an ongoing basis
- Ensure effective management of capital expenditure and development of financial models
- Ensure that proper business cases are developed to support capital expenditure programs
proposed for approval by the relevant Investment Committee
- Ensure effective management of Opex and Capex budgets and adequate provision for cashflow to enable daily
management of the business
- Ensure optimal utilisation of, and return on, Transnet Academy capital assets by ensuring
that all assets are correctly accounted for and revenue collected from debtors
- Perform financial analysis to forecast, budget and measure business performance and
plans, and present to senior management to inform decision making
- Support Transnet Academy management in the identification and management of cost saving initiatives
- Provide commercial and financial support to the Academy
- Identify opportunities with the potential to maximise profit
Governance, compliance and risk management
- Ensure that financial management policies and processes adhere to regulatory standards
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements on
an ongoing basis
- Identify financial risks and deploy risk management process
