**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Establish the TA sourcing and supply management function as a best-in-class operation within the framework of Transnet’s

integrated Supply Chain Management strategy, focusing on the entire value chain of procurement
- Lead and direct the development and implementation of best practice sourcing, contract management, procurement

governance, and enterprise and supplier development systems, processes, practices and solutions
- Establish a procurement governance and risk management framework to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and

Transnet policies, and to enable effective management and mitigation of strategic and tactical risks
- Drive enterprise development of designated sectors by ensuring that Supplier Development is embedded in sourcing

processes in terms of its transformational goals
- Manage and monitor procurement performance in the execution of the integrated Supply Chain Management strategy,

promoting legislative compliance and ethical procurement

Functional management
- Establish the TA sourcing and supply management function as a best-in-class operation within the framework of Transnet’s

integrated Supply Chain Management strategy
- Lead and direct the development of the TA procurement strategy and best-in-class systems, processes and practices to

enable the delivery of effective procurement, contract management, and enterprise and supplier development solutions
- Compile an annual procurement plan detailing capex and service requirements based on consolidated TA demand, and

formulate a sourcing strategy to ensure successful execution
- Drive performance improvement initiatives aimed at achieving year-on-year reduction in total procurement spend
- Drive enterprise development of designated sectors by ensuring that Supplier Development is embedded in sourcing

processes in terms of its transformational goals
- Drive capability development initiatives for purposes of supplier development
- Provide regular feedback on progress and highlight or escalate issues and problems immediately as they occur to the Head

of Corporate Services

- Lead high-level negotiations with suppliers, and strive to establish and maintain collaborative strategic supplier relationships

- Manage interactions with key suppliers and resolve conflicts arising from operational issues such as ordering, delivery times,

payment of invoices, and other
- Implement corrective action where key suppliers fail to meet contractual SLAs, and
- implement proper contract close-out for all strategic sourcing contracts
- Improve efficiencies of all procurement transactions from order to payment to reduce the total cost of goods and services

procured while maintaining product quality and supplier service levels
- Governance and compliance
- Monitor and ensure compliance of TA procurement activities to Transnet procurement processes and all relevant legislation,

including National Treasury directives issued from time to time
- Be an advocate for ethical procurement within the Academy and implement consequence management, or escalate, where

process violations and unethical actions are detected
- Monitor and ensure continuous alignment of procurement processes and activities with legislation and Transnet policies

Stakeholder relations management
- Drive supplier relationship management strategies, processes and protocols including monitoring, reviewing and reporting

on Service Level Agreements
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant key internal and external stakeholders in accordance with Transnet’s
