Duties/Pligte
- Conducting interviews and/or research for compiling content for any of the following: coverage of transformation related campus events and student life; media responses; articles for various campus publications (digital and printed);
- Pro-actively liaising with various stakeholders to source content and ideas for transformation related articles;
- Rewriting copy for different target audiences and platforms;
- Managing the TO's website, including the development and management of an online 'SU Transformation Hub';
- Managing the TO's social media communication, including marketing material for TO engagements aimed at various external and internal stakeholders;
- Developing and rolling out transformation related campaigns, usually in partnership with other SU environments such as Employment Equity and the Equality Unit;
- Assisting with the development of cost effective and innovative materials to support the work of the TO, such as training materials and information booklets;
- Liaising with graphic design service providers to package content for TO reports and other documents;
- Editing, translating and proofreading (in English and Afrikaans) support for various types of editorial material generated within the TO. The TO has access to professional editing and translations services, but deadlines for media releases often necessitate immediate translation.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or corporate communication, or equivalent qualification;
- At least three years' experience in journalism or corporate communication;
- Knowledge of transformation and social justice issues;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Computer proficiency in MS Office;
- Knowledge of digital, printed and other communication channels, principles and practices, including social media;
- The ability to write very well and to function effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment;
- Meticulous execution of functions and attention to detail;
- The ability to work independently, and in a team, and to use own initiative;
- The ability to function well under pressure and meet deadlines;
- The ability to appreciate and interpret divergent views in the midst of conflict and crisis situations.
