**Main Purpose of the Job**:
**Job-related Experience**:

- 2-3 years experience as a Development Officer, or in a similar position
- Experience working in the academic sector is a benefit
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
- Strong experience drafting proposals
- Strong experience managing the development and maintenance of a fundraising pool.

**Job-related Competencies, Skills & Knowledge**:

- Demonstrates an ability to secure major funds and partnerships from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private funding sources.
- Demonstrates an affinity towards planning and implementing long
- and short-range development initiatives in conjunction with strategic planning processes.
- Has strong proposal writing and implementation.
- Showcases interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with academic leadership, partners, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles.
- Has the ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.
- Database management skills.
- Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Has the ability to exercise good judgment, by demonstrating an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and using discretion in interactions with donors, partners, and others.
- Demonstrates organizational skills and has experience in managing strategic development plans and marketing, along and other complex activities in support of development objectives.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
- Community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
