The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines, including Accounting, Economics, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, School of Business & Finance, School of Government (including Public Administration) and the Academic Literacies Programme.

The School of Government in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of the Western Cape has a growing reputation as a leading teaching and research centre in the areas of Public Administration, Governance and Public Policy. The position of Professor offers a unique opportunity for an established academic with a high profile in research and publications to build the school as a centre of knowledge production and academic and professional excellence.
- Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Public Administration or related field
- Conduct research and publish in Public Administration or related field
- Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
- Provide academic leadership
- Undertake curriculum development and assessment
- Participate in community engagement and outreach
- Raising funds for new research initiatives
- Ensuring a high public profile for the School by collaborating with relevant stakeholders internally, nationally and internationally

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum requirements - Professor**:

- PhD or equivalent in Public Administration or related field
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching
- A record of quality peer reviewed publications
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Experience in generating research grants

**Minimum requirements - Associate Professor**:

- PhD or equivalent in Public Administration or related field
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching in Public Administration or related field
- A record of quality peer reviewed publications
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and preferably an international presence in his/her discipline.
