**Minimum Requirements**

Minimum Requirements for the position of Professor:

- LLD or equivalent in the field of private law
- extensive teaching experience in the field of private law
- an outstanding record of quality peer-reviewed publications in the field of private law
- an excellent record of successful postgraduate supervision at Master’s and Doctoral level, and
- evidence of expertise and of international recognition in the field of private law.
- the integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research

Minimum Requirements for the position of Associate Professor:

- LLD or equivalent in the field of private law
- considerable teaching experience in the field of private law
- a significant record of quality peer-reviewed publications in the field of private law
- a record of successful postgraduate supervision, at least at Master’s level, and
- evidence of expertise, national standing, and an international presence in the field of private law.
- the integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research

The following would be advantageous at both levels of appointment:

- An NRF rating.

- Student-focused approach
- Planning and organising skills
- Computer literacy and e-learning skills
- Technical professional knowledge and skills in the discipline and in the core strategic areas, namely learning and teaching, research and scholarship, community engagement as well as professional leadership.-
