Professor (X1)/associate Professor (X3) in Finance

The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines including Accounting, Economics, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, School of Business & Finance and School of Government (including Public Administration). The Faculty also boasts research strengths across multiple disciplines through which it impacts both policy and practice across diverse facets of business and society at large. The Faculty has developed strong multi-stakeholder linkages and meaningful interfaces with commerce, industry, civil society and government. It is a Faculty with a strong teaching and learning ethos focusing on building critical capacity in both the private and public sector.

The discipline of finance is undergoing a rapid change. The Faculty is currently in the process of revamping its finance offerings, and assembling a team of academics in various areas of finance.

Four vacancies currently exist, of which three will be filled at Associate Professor level and one at Professor level.
- Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing
- Conduct research and publish in risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing
- Undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
- Provide academic leadership
- Curriculum development and assessment
- Community engagement and outreach
- Other related duties assigned by the chair of the department

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements (Professor)**
- PhD or equivalent, preferably in the field of finance or economics.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, preferably in the field of risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing
- A record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in the field of risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline.
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Experience in generating research grants.

**Minimum Requirements (Associate Professor)**
- PhD or equivalent, preferably in the field of finance or economics.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, preferably in the field of risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing
- A track record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in the field of management
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and preferably an international presence in his/her discipline.
