The Faculty of Education has a long history of productive engagement with the key issues facing education in South Africa. We offer innovative, research-based teacher education programmes and run large postgraduate programmes in various disciplines in education.

As part of its promotion of the scholarship of teaching and learning, the Department of Educational Psychology seeks to appoint a** Professor** / **Associate Professor** in Educational Psychology.

The successful incumbent will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty. He/ She will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

- Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in life orientation, educational psychology and / or inclusive education
- Conduct research and publish in the fields of educational psychology and/or inclusive education
- Construct a coherent research agenda consistent with the broad research goals of the Department of Educational Psychology and within the Faculty
- Undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
- Provide academic leadership
- Curriculum development and assessment
- Community engagement and outreach
- Serve on committees devoted to the development of departmental and faculty objectives

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements (Professor level)**
- A PhD in the field of educational psychology and/or inclusive education
- A professional teaching qualification
- NRF Rating
- Extensive experience in facilitating learning and teaching in educational psychology and/or inclusive education
- A strong track record of quality academic research and peer-reviewed publications of relevance to the field
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD studies
- Evidence of expertise and national and international standing in his/her field of research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels

**Minimum Requirements (Associate Professor Level)**
- A PhD in the field of educational psychology and/or inclusive education
- A professional teaching qualification
- Extensive experience in facilitating learning and teaching in educational psychology and/or inclusive education.
- A track record of quality academic research and peer-reviewed publications of relevance to the field
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD studies
- Evidence of expertise and national standing in his/her field of research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels

**The following is recommended for both P and AP level**:

- Registration as an Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
- Experience in facilitating learning and teaching in any of the following sub-disciplines would be advantageous: developmental psychology, counselling and psychotherapy, research psychology, life orientation, learning support, psycho-educational assessment- Send to a Friend
