Product Quality & Innovations Manager (National Head, based in JHB)
Remuneration: R20 - R23,000 (Experience dependant)
Location: Linbro Business Park, Sandton
Travel: Must have own car and be able to travel monthly (2-3 days domestic)
Education level & experience: Suitable qualification advantageous + 4 years’ experience in the
industry in a comparative role
Job level: Management
Working days: Monday to Friday. Will be required to work a Saturday or Sunday
occasionally to prep for product launches.
Job description
The Product Quality & Innovations Manager, will be a key contributor to Krispy Kreme’s success by
delivering on the Fresh Product Calendar, creating awesome doughnut experiences for our guests and
ensuring product quality is aligned with the brand standards and continuously adhered to. Role aligns
with Operations, Brand Marketing, and Innovations to successfully co-develop Limited Time Offerings
(LTO’s) from product briefs to launch. Working closely with internal and external partners through
Krispy Kreme’s IDEAL innovation process. Leading teams to execute on product freshness.
This position reports to the Operations Director (in conjunction with Head of Marketing).
Key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participates in all stages of the IDEAL process, from ideation, product briefing, bench top
development, collection of reviews through launch.
- Collaborating and creating buzzworthy doughnuts, balancing customer wow and operational
ease with omnichannel lens.
- Ensures products consistently meet marketing, financial, and operational goals.
- Works closely with Marketing team from Calendar planning to creative think tank, to food
styling - photo and video shoot and roll-out.
- Works closely with the procurement team to source new ingredients and maintain vendor
relationships. Responsible for creating and presenting ingredient sample briefs to suppliers.
- Accountable for maintaining accurate data in Product Vision for processing aids and
formulations, along with ingredient specifications, testing evaluations and any other technical
documentation and vendor communication that allow for consistent and reliable execution
within IDEAL development process.
- Partners with Operations and Training on all materials required from training to launch.
Including training videos, accurate recipe cards and processing specifications.
- Will manage a team of processors (decorating) from a creative, administrative (rosters, leave
schedules) and leadership point of view.
- Stays current on all new food technologies and products, leveraging supply chain partnerships,
vendors, and culinary experts, bringing creative new ideas to the team.
- Implement systems and process to maintain quality and freshness standards at Krispy Kreme
South Africa.
- Quality control monitoring on Doughnuts and specialised beverage is essential.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
- Strong understanding of Baking (Sweet Treat) principles required. Culinary or Pastry Degree
preferred.
- Exposure and knowledge of product and suppliers in this space is advantageous.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Passion for innovation in sweet treat category required.
- Quality Control and attention to detail is key.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively under tight timelines, troubleshoot and prioritize projects, in a high
pressure and continuously evolving environment.
- Leadership and management skills essential in directing your team.

**Salary**: R20,000.00 - R23,000.00 per month
