**Civils work - construction foreman**

**Job description**

Beside having good theory knowledge, understanding of standards applied and at least 8 years practical experience of civils work, the ideal foreman will have strong management ability and be able to lead a team to achieve targets, keep the team motivated and guided while maintaining high quality. The foreman needs to be confident to make decisions to get the job done through experience in pressured environments.

Work responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Managing the HR aspects of recruited labour workforce ensuring discipline is maintained, all contracts / time sheets / on-site procedures and regulations are done correctly, etc.
- Monitoring of subcontractor’s used work for quality and efficiency.
- Communication of site instructions to all site staff.
- Updating / communicating respectfully with principal's site agent / contracts manager.
- Using problem solving techniques to overcome challenges
- Implementing systems / procedures to improve the company’s operations where applicable
- Prioritising health and safety compliance on site.

Skills and aptitude for the following will be required:

- Supervising the full process of a site from start to finish and running the site in the most cost-effective way.
- The ability to read / understand plans, to set out onsite from the plans.
- Being able to work in informal settlements and communicate effectively is essential.
- Always behaving respectfully and professionally to uphold the brand and image of the company.
- Possess a valid drivers licence and own vehicle preferable
- Have at least 8 years practical on-site experience in similar works
- Preferably have own vehicle
- Have a diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or be able to demonstrate experience to the professional level
- Good management skills
- Confidence to run a site
- Ability to communicate in English and advantage would also be Afrikaans or Xhosa
- Possess good planning ability

**Salary**: R15,000.00 - R40,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Education**:

- Diploma (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Civils: 8 years (preferred)

License/Certification:

- Drivers Licience (preferred)
