The University of the Western Cape is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified person to the position of **Director: Quality Assurance and Information Management.** This position will be responsible for the provision of visionary and strategic leadership and professional advice in all quality assurance and information management matters in the academic and support sectors of the University. The incumbent will lead, plan, monitor and maintain the Quality Assurance and Management Information Systems for the University, including ensuing compliance and conformance to policies in terms of the DHET, CHE and SAQA.

Reporting to the **Institutional Planner**, the **Director: Quality Assurance & Information Management** will be responsible for the following:

- Leading the University’s quality assurance arrangements and ensuring that relevant regulations, policies and standard operating procedures are kept under review and updated in accordance with the wishes of Senate and in conformance with guidance from external regulatory agencies
- Coordinating the planning and management of internal and external programme reviews and overseeing the processes of the approval, accreditation and registration of new academic programmes
- Coordinating and providing specialist advice and support for the design and development of new academic programmes, working in close collaboration with the Director: Academic Planning and key academic and support staff
- Keeping abreast of quality matters at national level to ensure that a culture of quality promotion is communicated effectively across the university
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and external quality assurance agencies and responding to requests for information on quality assurance related matters.
- Overseeing the management and maintenance of the University’s higher education management and information system (HEMIS) to ensure the validation and monitoring of reliable information and data sets in relation to internal and external reporting requirements.

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements** (Qualification and Experience)
- A relevant Master’s degree or equivalent qualification at NQF level 9, although a PhD will serve as an added advantage.
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience in the Higher Education sector
- In-depth knowledge and extensive experience of quality-related requirements and an understanding of the wider external quality debates in higher education to provide authoritative advice and guidance
- At least 3 years’ demonstrable leadership and senior management experience
- Working knowledge of governance structures, policies and procedures in Higher Education, quality assurance agencies and professional bodies
- University experience in teaching and research will be an added advantage

- Highly effective interpersonal skills to build relationships and foster an environment of trust and cooperation in an academic setting
- Conscientious, self-motivated with an ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Methodical and thorough with an eye for detail with strong analytical and organisational skills
- Experience with technical report writing; exceptional written and oral skills with an ability to liaise effectively at all levels within the University and externally
- An ability to interpret, synthesise and make effective use of data and information relevant to the portfolio
- Proficiency in data organisation, statistical and advance Computer Literacy skills with a working knowledge of relational databases-
