The Teaching and Learning Specialist: Academic Quality Assurance will support the University’s mission to provide quality programmes to students and will have a key role in improving the quality of academic programmes in the University. Teaching and Learning Specialist: Academic Quality Assurance will provide professional planning, coordination and development for institutional programme reviews and for external reviews and accreditation activities. The incumbent shall be assigned to one or more designated Faculty, will provide professional support in preparation for quality reviews, and will monitor improvement and implementation plans for internal and external reviews, and related academic quality assurance activities.

Key performance areas:
Reporting to the Director: Academic Planning Unit, the incumbent will:

- Plan, coordinate and implement programme reviews for all accredited programmes in the faculties they are assigned to
- Provide specialised advice and guidance to faculties on preparation for all reviews and audits including preparation of self-evaluation reports.
- Monitor progress throughout the academic and programme review cycle and presenting findings to key stakeholders in the University.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all parties engaged in academic and programme reviews and accreditation activities, and conduct all communication related to these reviews and activities.
- Provide specialised guidance and advice on the collection of review data and assist with data preparation for analysis;
- Synthesise findings and recommendations to enable faculties to develop improvement and implementation plans for internal programme reviews, external quality reviews and accreditation activities;
- Build programme and curriculum review capacity at Faculty level for academic staff;
- Undertake monitoring and evaluation of module and programme outcomes in support of student success;
- Assess student feedback and representation through student surveys, programme voice groups and student voice leaders.
- Participate as required in internal review activities that support external review and audit processes;
- Assist with other tasks and/or projects in the designated faculties aimed at improving the quality of academic programmes at the faculty;
- Undertake institutional research related to the academic project, to support decision-making towards the improvement of academic quality;
- Disseminate research findings annually through internal reports as well as journal publications and conference presentations

**Minimum Requirements**
- Master’s degree in relevant field (at Lecturer rank);
- PhD in relevant field (at Senior Lecturer rank);
- Experience in academic quality assurance in higher education, particularly pertaining to programme review, quality review and audit, and programme accreditation.
- Advanced research, analytical, critical thinking and report writing skills.

**Knowledge, skills and abilities required**:

- Knowledge of quality review, audit and accreditation methodologies, practices and principles.
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement management principles and practices
- Ability to synthesis and analyse quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
- Excellent planning and organising skills, with the ability to monitor and review;
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to investigate and analyse data and information and draw conclusions.-
