Electrical Technician

**JOB SUMMARY AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

The **Electrical Technician** is responsible for providing high quality on-site technical expertise and service to customers in respect of the repair, servicing, and installation of electrical cables, electrical systems, distribution boards and poultry products and equipment. The function is two-fold, comprising of project installations and breakdowns. It includes but is not limited to the following:
Project installations:

- Installation of electrical wiring, equipment, distribution boards and panels as per customer requirement.
- Place conduit, pipes or tubing in designated locations, and pull wires / cables through to conduit to complete the various circuits.
- Perform equipment terminations and testing.
- Attending to the programming and pre-commissioning of poultry products and equipment.
- Read and comprehend prints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Receiving and checking electrical equipment and component deliveries.
- Weekly progress reporting and escalation of all issues experienced on site.
- Provide customer support during project installations and resolve / escalate queries or concerns.
- Oversee, manage and training of apprentices during project installations and provide feedback on performance and progress.
- Support the installation teams and commissioning technician during commissioning and handover.
- Log hours of electrical resources on a daily basis during a project.
- Overall overseeing of ongoing projects.
- Assisting with stock taking if necessary.
- Making of _ad hoc _deliveries of stock as and when required.
- Maintain technical and operational documentation.
- Stay current with technological developments relating to poultry products and equipment.

Breakdowns:

- Attending to the repair and servicing of poultry products and equipment including but not limited to fault finding, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical faults.
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
- Resolve technical and procedural problems.
- Attending to callouts and breakdowns, including after hour callouts and breakdowns, to identify and resolve problems.
- Completing job cards and attending to general maintenance.

**LOCATION**

Kempton Park, Gauteng and any such other locations or destinations as determined by the Employer from time to time.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Strong technical ability.
- Educational level: Matric Certificate and a Diploma or Higher Diploma (electrical and/or mechanical) and/or another relevant qualification.
- Qualified electrician (red seal), through recognized accreditation entity.
- Relevant technical experience relating to the installation, repair and/or servicing of products/equipment in the poultry and piggery industries.
- Relevant experience with and technical knowledge of Plassson products and/or any other products supplied to customers by the Employer.
- Operation practices and procedures, including Health and Safety protocols and requirements.
- Ability to speak and understand Afrikaans.

Pay: R20 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
