- Must show exceptional trouble shooting, fault finding and problem-solving skills (structured approach to problem solving).
- Fault finding on various electrical machinery
- Conduct planned maintenance, instrument fault analysis and instrument loop checks.
- Proactive in analyzing and investigating on recurrent electrical, instrumentation and automation faults to continuously improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Plc panel wiring and faultfinding.
- Maintain Instrument manuals, drawings and panels.
- Complete necessary job cards and motor checklists.
- Knowledge of Siemens, Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi PLCs and associated hardware would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Fieldbus and Industrial Communication protocols such as Profibus DP/PA, Profinet and Ethernet/IP would be advantageous.
- Ensure planned maintenance, work orders, projects and breakdowns are completed in a timeous and professional manner as instructed by Foreman/Engineer.
- Ensure that repairs are completed with the most cost effective solution without compromising safety and production.
- Ensure that spares stock is optimized, controlled and maintained.
- Monitor and reduce consumption and wastage of consumables, spare parts and plant services.
- Actively participate and contribute to continuous improvement, identify projects and initiatives.
- Assist the operations wherever necessary to improve the cost effectiveness of operations.
- Ensure that workmanship is of the highest standard, prevent rework and unnecessary downtime.
- Ensure availability of the plant through the efficient leadership of the E&I Artisans
- Continually optimize E&I engineering processes and designs in terms of time, cost and functionality
- Ensure, together with the E&I Engineer that asset are designed to comply with Jumbo Centres safety, quality and sustainability standards
- Maintain strong links across engineering teams and be the go-to person to drive E&I capability.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A National Senior Certificate
- Electrical Engineering N6 or National Diploma equivalent.
- A minimum of 5-10 years experience as an Electrical/Instrumentation Foreman or Technician
- Plan, organize and control of Electrical & Instrumentation Section activities and responsibilities
- HV/MV system maintenance and safety
- Experience in all instrumentation found in Pulp & Paper Industry (Level Transmitters, Pressure Transmitters, Temperature Transmitters, Consistency Transmitters and all types of control valves)
- A good understanding of AC drives able to fault find mostly Siemens, Parker and Allen Bradley brands
- A good understanding of PLC and SCADA Systems Siemens PCS7 and WinCC
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Clear Credit and criminal record.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Good background experience in process control and instrumentation.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good background experience in control systems, (Level 0 and 1, 2 highly advantageous).
- Previous experience in tissue manufacturing or similar industry an added advantage.
- Have worked on various Scada systems (PSC 7 / ABB / WinCC or equivalent).
Relevant Courses in Siemens and Allen Bradley Software (e.g., TIA portal, Pcs7, Step 7, Rs Logix 5000 etc.) an added advantage
