**Job Purpose**
- The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to assist with the Management, development and implementation of integrated environmental management legislation and systems with regard to Air Quality Management.

**Minimum Requirements**
- An appropriate 4-year B-Degree/ Honours (equivalent or higher qualification) in Environmental Management, Natural or Physical Sciences or related field; A minimum of 6 years relevant experience; A valid (Code B or higher) driving license.

**Recommendation**
- Specialist and technical knowledge and experience in integrated environmental management, particularly as it relates to air quality management processes and systems; Functional knowledge of the following: Relevant environmental legislation and policies, particularly as it relates to Specific Environmental Management Acts promulgated in terms of the National Environmental Management Act; Compliance monitoring and enforcement of environmental authorisations and / or atmospheric emission licensing systems, and activities as it relates to Specific Environmental Management Acts promulgated in terms of the National Environmental Management Act; Related sectors/ fields; Strategic planning, and experience in human resource management, financial management requirements and relevant fiscal policies, regulations and legislation and administration procedures relating to the specific working environment; Conflict management; Project management; Willingness to travel; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

**Competencies**

**Knowledge and experience of the following**: Environmental and/or air quality management systems, including atmospheric emission licensing; Environmental legislation and policies, particularly relating to air quality management.
**Skills needed**: Conflict Resolution / Time Management; Project Management and report writing; Planning, Financial and Human Resource Management; General Office / Administration: Supervisory and Mentoring, Budgeting and Financial
Management; Research and report writing; Ability to meet strict deadlines.

**Remuneration**

**Grade A - R 612 480 per annum (OSD as prescribed).**
