- Conducting monthly Audits on on-site contractors and general on-site contractor management;
- Chairing of Health and Safety Committee Meetings;
- Ensuring calibrations and other legally required inspections are controlled and maintained;
- Ensuring legal compliance in terms of Emergency By-Laws;
- Conducting of regular Safety Drills;
- Management and follow-up of all Health and Safety related Non-conformances;
- Maintenance of all applicable Health & Safety Registers;
- Conducting of Incident & Accident Investigations;
- Ensuring that all employees and on-site contractors are inducted;
- Reviewing, revision, implementation and training of risk assessments, procedures and safe work instructions;
- Providing monthly reports on the performance of the ISO45001:2018 Management System;
- Providing written reports / recommendations / opportunities for improvement to Top Management;
- Ensuring efficient communication takes place with the workforce and any on-site contractors;
- Ensuring all legally and internally required inspections, checklists etc. are completed and the records thereof are maintained;
- Establishing and monitoring of Health and Safety related Objectives and Targets;
- Monitoring and reporting on trends (PPE Usage, Injuries, Accidents, COVID-19 cases etc.)**Inherent Requirements**
- Tertiary education in Health and Safety Management (Degree / Diploma);
- First Aid Certificate;
- Fire Fighting Certificate;
- Fall Protection Planner Certificate;
- Certificate in terms of Construction Regulations;
- Ability to communicate in at least one African language;
- At least 5 years’ experience in the Management of Health and Safety in steel and engineering industries;
- At least 3 years’ experience in the Management of an ISO45001:2018 Management System;
- ISO45001:2018 Qualification (Implementation/Internal Auditing/Lead Auditing);
- Incident and Accident Investigation Certificate;
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) Certificate;
- Valid code B driver’s license;
- In-depth knowledge of the requirements of the OHS Act;
- Working knowledge of the requirements of the Construction Regulations;
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office suite of software, with Outlook, Word and Excel being essential;
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbally and in writing);
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining strict deadlines;
- Ability to independently carry out functions and instructions;
- Willingness to work overtime, if required;
- Willingness to be available on 24h basis in the event of injuries and emergencies;
- Good organizational and administrative practices;
- Attention to detail;
- Out-of-the-box thinker who is able to identify areas for improvement in existing systems;
- Self-motivated, hands-on individual with a “can-do” attitude;
- Good interpersonal skills within a team context;
