- To ensure a Safe working environment for all company Employees.
- To ensure that appropriate Safety, Security, Health, Environmental-and Legal requirements are met i.e. Training, safe work Permits for various processes etc.
- Must be able to deal with Department of Labour: Inspection and Investigations.
- Must be able to do Internal Audits i.e. Safety Environmental.
- Must be able to deal with external auditors’ i.e.
- Liase with Plant Managers and/ or HOD’s, safety reps on relevant matters.
- Liase with employees re safe and healthy-work practice.
- Monthly management reports.
- Promote safety-and environmental awareness (conform to all legal requirements)
- Enforce discipline in line with the Company’s Disciplinary Code.
- Form part and participate in the IR, EE and Safety committees.

**Inherent Requirements**
- Diploma/Degree in Safety Management/ Risk Management related field
- 7 years experience in Safety Management, Occupational Management Environment and Auditing
- Incident Investigation certificate
- H.I.R.A (Hazard identification risk assessment) experience is beneficial
- Deep understanding of safety and social risks
- OHSAS 18001 Implementation experience
- Maintain the companies ISO 14001 & OSHAS 18001 systems.
- No less than 5 years’ experience with the Workman’s Compensation Act documentation
- Undertaking of legal risk and environmental audits and the compilation of reports
- Compliance / Legislation
- Provide support and guidance to external auditors
- Advise company management to ensure company acts in accordance with relevant legislation
- Develop site specific environmental plans, safety assessments & training
- Must be able to resolve certain situations - Safety Matters, Injury cases etc

- Must be able to operate independently (Self-Driven)
- Uses logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
- Makes use of all resources and internal procedures to get answers and work done
- Able to see hidden and possible problems/ challenges

**Communications**:

- Is able to read, speak and write clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles in English; Any additional language is an advantage.

- Identifies what is important and focuses on these issues
- Able to sense what will assist or hinder the accomplishments of the company’s safety K.P.I’s
- Eliminates obstacles and has the necessary interpersonal skills for daily working with diverse departments
