Duties/Pligte

**Management duties**:
Providing support to the directors in developing strategic plans, business plans, and producing reports;- Implementing and monitoring outcomes of the Schools business plans;- Managing the finances of the Schools;- Managing the implementation of sustainable staffing for the Schools;- Overseeing buildings, facilities, and services management;- Overseeing the planning and marketing of workshops and short courses;-
- Assisting the directors in coordinating research, administrative, and fundraising activities for the two Schools;- Managing research contracts with partners and/or research collaborators;- Managing relationships with core team members, postdocs, and student reporting;- Collating content produced by the Schools, and drafting and publishing annual reports;- Daily financial management, including signing off on orders;- Scheduling meetings and preparing documents for meetings, including those of the management committees, governing boards, and funders;- Scheduling and arranging the Schools annual research meetings;- Acting as line manager for the Schools administrative staff.

**Liaising duties**:
Liaising with core staff, postdocs and students to ensure that all of the activities at the Schools are proceeding smoothly;- Liaising with core team members, postdocs and students to avoid bottlenecks in funding and reporting;- Liaising with core staff, postdocs and students to identify cross-disciplinary linkages;- Liaising with Stellenbosch University and other parties as required;- Liaising with external funders and research collaborators to ensure continued alignment with objectives;- Liaising with administrative and technical staff to identify and address staff and operational needs.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes- Master's degree in management, business, data, natural sciences, or equivalent qualification in a field relevant to the activities of the Schools;- At least three years' experience in a relevant managerial capacity;- Proven excellence in collating technical and performance-related material, its synthesis, and the subsequent writing and editing of reports;- Proven capability in writing grant proposals;- Experience in liaising with corporate and private funding bodies;- Experience in dealing with the National Research Foundation and other government agencies working in the area of environmental management;- Experience in dealing with financial and/or human resources matters at a South African university;- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines;- The ability to work as part of a team;- The ability to multi-task;- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills;- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build, grow and maintain networks;- The ability to take direction.
