In addition, supports the finance organization, ensuring the successful utilization of discipline strategies and brand initiatives while maximizing the return on investment to the Owners and Marriott International. **CANDIDATE PROFILE** **Education and Experience** - 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent required - Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership position within Accounting or Finance or related professional area - Hotel financial management experience preferred - Strong knowledge of hotel Management Agreements & Fee calculations - Strong knowledge of Budgeting and Forecasting - Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Accpac and EIS accounting systems and Opera PMS will be advantageous. - Knowledge of Fixed Assets and Depreciation - Knowledge of VAT and SARS regulation around indirect taxes - Knowledge of Marriott finance policies will be advantageous. - Excellent organizational and administrative skills. - Ability to travel within South Africa. **CORE WORK ACTIVITIES** **Managing Work, Projects, and Policies** - Support Area Director of Finance in identifying opportunities to drive balance scorecard results through strategies and activities to improve financial results, guest satisfaction, human capital and market share. - Facilitates business review meetings, supporting the area and hotel teams to prepare and present at meetings and reviews. - Manages communication with Owners in an effective manner, Business Plan presentations, Capital planning, Forecasting etc. - Manage and prepare presentations for internal and external meetings including owner reviews, Marriott and discipline decks. - Provides support to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for the Area, taking a finance lead during meetings in the absence of the Area Director of Finance. - Ensures compliance with Management agreement terms, legal contract and reporting requirements. - Analyzes property financial data and market trends, providing data to the Area team in helpful and user-friendly formats. - Execute strategies and actions to increase return on invested capital. Lead and facilitate the management of cash flow, capital and overall expenses to obtain highest value. - Assist in preparation of operational projects / ROI documents in conjunction with other key stakeholders. - Ensures compliance with standard and local operating procedures (SOPs and LSOPs). - Provides on-going support by monitoring projected sales and ensures the continent takes advantage of synergies opportunities including between properties. - Acts as the liaison and conduit between above and on property finance disciplines to drive efficiencies and effectiveness of processes and procedures. - Achieves and exceeds goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc. - Lead and participate in regular DOF/FM/CFM calls to ensure timely communication on policy updates, new and updated processes and procedures. - Submits reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines. - Coaches FM’s/CFM’s to ensures profits and losses are documented accurately. - Timely follow ups on hotel action plans around ISRA, Controller Audits and resolution of weaknesses in Quickbase - Maintains a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets. - Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures, and efficient control and utilization of financial resources. - Uses computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, develop financial spreadsheets, set up functions, enter data, or process information. - Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. **Leading Accounting Teams** - Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example. - Motivates and provides a work environment where employees are productive. - Imposes deadlines and delegates tasks. - Provides an "open door policy" and is highly visible in areas of responsibility. - Understands how to manage in a culturally diverse work environment. - Manages the quality process in areas of customer service and employee satisfaction. - Coaches and guides FM’s/Cluster FM’s to achieve annual LPA goals a
