**ICT Technician**

Claremont

Our client, a private academic institution, seeks to appoint an ICT Technician who will support the Operations & Infrastructure and AV Facilities Support areas of the ICT Department, both on-prem and in cloud. The ideal incumbent will have the relevant IT qualifications and competencies coupled with 3 years ‘hands-on’ experience as an ICT Technician at a SME.

**_Educational Requirements _**

Preferred qualifications, or similar:

- Comptia A+; N+ Certification
- An IT Diploma will also be advantageous

**Character**
- People person, who is patient and who can adjust their explanation of problems and resulting solutions according to the level of the user.
- Individual that enjoys problem solving and researching solutions.
- Someone who does not need to be micro-managed and is capable of taking initiative.
- An individual that is ‘calm’ and organized in stressful situations.
- Forward planner and punctual; this role requires the incumbent to be ‘on time every time’ and prepared for ‘all situations’.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Ability to efficiently research problems and their solutions.
- Be able to multi-task and prioritise actions based on nature and urgency of requests.
- Able to interact with pupils and staff; assist them when required, with assistance covering all manner of devices and technologies.
- Able to manage all AV resources.
- Ability to interact with service providers, obtain quotes and manage their services on campus.
- Ability to maintain Asset Registry and regularly check key points and keep them organised.

**_Key Areas and Competencies _**

This role includes the following key areas and competencies:
**IT Support**:

- Assist staff and pupils with daily device support, including, but not limited to laptops iPads, mobile phones, and printers; troubleshoot different computer issues.
- The setup up of new equipment and upgrading of existing systems; installing hardware or software.
- Maintain, upgrade or replace classroom, multi-purpose and other areas’ IT resources; be involved in planning efforts and liaise with suppliers/contractors when necessary/as directed.
- Manage and maintain the Macbook labs and the computing resources therein.
- Assist, where necessary, with network functions and the daily operation thereof.
- Support the Helpdesk; monitor and maintain call logs.
- Maintain inventory listings and documentation of all processes.

**AV Support**:

- Assist staff and pupils with daily AV in classrooms, multi-purpose venues and other areas for lessons, events and other school-related gatherings at the Senior School.
- Manage the resources and support events in Herschel’s key point venues (e.g. Theatre; Chapel), within the school day and after hours.
- Liaise with service provides to obtain quotes for events, the arrangements resulting therefrom, and any other duties required from organisers of events, within reason.
- Maintain, upgrade or replace classroom, multi-purpose and other areas’ AV resources; be involved in planning efforts and liaise with suppliers/contractors when necessary/as directed.
- Maintain the Asset Registry of equipment and regularly audit the state of all venues under this role.
- Keep all areas listed above in a neat state and completely organized, including store areas.

**Salary**: R20,000.00 - R25,000.00 per month
