Position: Mid ICT Desktop and LAN Technician

Location: Cape Town

Employment Type: 24 Months contract

Start Date: ASAP

Overview

We are seeking a competent and self-driven Mid ICT Desktop and LAN Technician to join our technical support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-user desktop support, LAN infrastructure maintenance, and ensuring stable day-to-day ICT operations. This role requires strong troubleshooting capability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd-line desktop and remote support for hardware, software, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, peripherals, and operating systems.
  • Perform LAN support, including patching, switch port configuration, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and standard enterprise applications.
  • Monitor and maintain network and workstation performance, applying preventative maintenance where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to ICT policies, security standards, and change management processes.
  • Log, track, and resolve incidents and service requests within SLA.
  • Assist with equipment rollouts, upgrades, and small-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Provide user training and guidance where required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in ICT-related qualification
  • 3–5 years' experience in desktop support and LAN troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and general network principles.
  • Experience with routers, switches, Wi-Fi, and patching cabinets.
  • Valid driver's licence (advantageous, if travel is required).
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
