**Chief Audit Executive - 5 Year Fixed-Term Contract Pretoria**

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
The role of the Chief Audit Executive is to take responsibility for providing strategic direction and driving the execution of the Internal Audit strategy aligned to the overall organisation strategy and ensuring assurance of compliance and internal control environment with statutory requirements, policies, and procedures in line with Internal Audit Standards. Providing leadership and management that promote a culture that reflect the organisational values, encourages optimal performance within the organisation.

**KEY DELIVERABLES**
- Define, develop, and ensure implementation of long-term **strategy** for the Internal Audit unit that is aligned and supports the organisational Strategy

ü Ensure alignment of all activities undertaken in the unit to the strategy of the business and the applicable legislation.

ü Drive best practice, continuous improvement and innovation at process and procedure level.

ü Work with the Commissioner and Audit Committee to establish an effective control environment

ü Maintain close liaison with the Commissioner, Board members, Audit Committee members and all other committee members and managers

ü Ensure effective planning, preparations, and facilitation of the Audit Committee

ü Provides assurance on internal control environment and participate in all forms of risk management

ü Ensure that internal audits are conducted in accordance with the **IIA standards**

ü Preparation and submission of management reports on internal control policies, procedures, and systems

ü Manage Auditor General monthly key controls and meetings

ü Maintain internal working relationships with Executive Management and Commissioner

ü Report to Audit Committee and Commissioner on internal controls, gaps

ü Interface with Audit Committee on internal controls and gaps

ü Promote partnerships with relevant stakeholders and manage overall perceptions on the internal audit function.

ü Manage and oversee team performance through performance planning, coaching and performance appraisals

ü Motivate and inspire the team by providing them with the information and tools they need to do their jobs well and meet expectations

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Master''s / BCom Honours in Internal Auditing/Accounting

ü **Must be a Certified Internal Auditor**
- **Must be a Member of IIA (SA)**
- CISA, CRMA will be an added advantage

**REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum **10 years** experience in the audit environment with **5 years internal audit in a senior management level obtained within governance, risk and compliance**

ü **Experience in the management of processes and systems in Regulatory environment**
- **IT audit experience is essential**.
