Junior Lecturer: Strength and Conditioning

Duties/Pligte
- Participating in the management, planning and teaching of selected modules in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Division of Sport Science according to current need;
- Offering relevant and contemporary theoretical and practical content (e.g. lectures, seminars, tutorials, and laboratory work) as required;
- Assessing, recording and reporting on students' progress in applicable modules;
- Contributing to the reviewing, writing, compilation, and development of undergraduate teaching modules;
- Participating in the teaching activities in both face-to-face and online contexts;
- Participating and contributing to existing research projects in the Division;
- Attending and contributing to Divisional and Departmental meetings;
- Assisting with the recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- Providing academic support and taking pastoral responsibility for students and groups of students, and contributing to the professional preparation of students;
- Undertaking appropriate staff development;
- Undertaking any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, properly directed by the line manager.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Honours degree in Sport Science (or an equivalent sport and exercise science degree at NQF Level 8) with a minimum of two years' research experience in the field of sport and exercise science;
- Two years' experience in academic training of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Two years' experience in academic training of students at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
- The ability to teach Applied Kinesiology / Fitness / Strength and Conditioning modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels both theoretically and practically;
- Experience of and proven background in sport performance scientific testing and the fitness / strength conditioning of teams / individual athletes / clients;
- Demonstrable potential of wanting to publish in peer-reviewed journals;
- The ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals;
- Proven skills in research methodology relevant to Sport Science;
- The ability to manage, structure and work alongside stakeholders in the professional practice training of postgraduate students in performance sport environments;
- Proven knowledge of and experience in sport technologies and data handling;
- Adequate knowledge to contribute to more than one theoretical module within Sport Science;
- Scientific and practical teaching of one or more sport codes (individual and team sports);
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Computer literacy commensurate with research and lecture requirements;
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment.
