A position, aimed at training a young, South African, academic staff member, is available.

The incumbent will have to register for their PhD (part-time) in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at SU

at the first available opportunity after joining the Department. The incumbent¿s chosen PhD field of study must be in the field of thermofluid systems.

The incumbent will typically spend three days per week on PhD studies.

Two days per week will be devoted to work in the Department that can include academic and/or technical support.

This departmental work will not necessarily be related to the PhD research, but must be in support of the Voigt Chair in Thermofluid Systems Modelling.

Die posisie is daarop gemik om 'n jong, Suid Afrikaanse, akademiese personeellid op te lei.

Die posbekleër sal by die eerste geleentheid na die aanvang van hul verpligtinge, moet inskryf vir 'n PhD (deeltyds) in die Departement Meganiese en Megatroniese Ingenieurswese by die US.

Die posbekleër se gekose PhD studierigting moet wees in die veld van termovloeistelsels.

Die posbekleër sal tipies drie dae per week aan PhD studies spandeer en twee dae per week in die Department aan akademiese en/of tegniese ondersteuning werk.

Laasgenoemde sal nie noodwendig verband hou met die PhD navorsing nie, maar sal spesifiek ter ondersteuning van die Voigt Leerstoel in Termvloeistelsel Modellering wees.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes- An ECSA accredited BEng or BSc(Eng) degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering, or equivalent;the final submitted thesis must be provided three days before the oral interview.
