Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO) is a registered NPO established in 1986 with a mission to relieve the suffering of animals living within indigent communities across the Cape Metropole.

ARO is not a pet shelter, but is a welfare veterinary hospital service concentrating on a number of important areas of work including sterilisation and primary health care.

Based in Cape Town, Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO) seeks to appoint a

FUNDRAISING COORINDATOR

The Fundraising Co-Ordinator will support and implement a multi-faceted fundraising strategy resulting in the diversification of income streams and to work towards growing sustainable income streams for Animal Rescue Organisation.

Key responsibilities for the Fundraising Coordinator will include:

- Assist at various fundraising events which may fall out of general working hours as requested by the Head of Fundraising and Communications.
- Organising activities, such as sponsored outdoor events, and sourcing donations/goods and funding.
- Producing detailed proposals for events (e.g. timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing and budgets).
- Work in the Bergvliet and Kalk Bay Charity Shop one day a week.
- Assist with overseeing the daily shop operations: staff, logistics and stock
- Daily monitoring of newsworthy stories from the hospital, clinic and mobile clinics for all social media platforms (website included) - relaying these stories to Head of Fundraising for newsletters etc.
- Creating content for social media.
- Taking up to date good quality photos for use on social media.
- Reporting on social media insights monthly.
- Staying on top of social media trends.
- Assist with the execution of the development of the Fundraising strategy.
- Identify grant funding opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with existing donors and respond to their requests and/or queries regularly and keep updating them about the work and achievements of the organisation.

The Fundraising Coordinator must meet the following criteria:

- Matric Certificate
- Diploma
- Valid Driver's License, own vehicle essential
- Three (3) to five (5) years fundraising experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer literacy and experience with CRM platforms an advantage.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to speak two South African languages of which one must be English.
- Ability to work overtime and extended hours if required to do so. Time in lieu of hours worked will be given.
- Work in a demanding and potentially dangerous environment.
