Job Summary

The Policy Risk Assurance Function is accountable for the testing of implementation and adherence principle risk frameworks and policies. This activity is undertaken independently of the business under authority of the PRO/GCCO, providing assurance to the Business Area CRO and GCCO that risk controls are complete, effective and policy compliant. The Policy Assurance Specialist is responsible for implementation, execution, governance and infrastructure of assurance activities to aid the evidencing of compliance levels to and embedment of risk frameworks and policies

Job Description

Accountability: Strategic Planning

Execute the Group’s strategy and plan towards Combined Assurance in support of the Group’s strategy and business objectives through inter-alia:

- Pre-planning of assignments identifying potential areas of interest
- Conducting of fieldwork
- Analysis of data
- Engagement of business unit management clearly articulating issues identified
- Formalization of reports confirming issues and remediation actions
- Tracking of remediation

As a Group Combined Assurance Subject Matter Expert:

- Deliver advisory and training services
- Conduct research on assurance trends and advise the Lead Risk Policy Assurance of new and forthcoming developments
- Assist leadership to drive a transformational agenda to continuously improve the efficiency of combined assurance processes in line with market, business or regulatory developments
- Enable delivery of the update to the Risk Leadership with assurance performance metrics, project implementation statuses and key matters arising; escalating material issues identified indicating the level of severity and associated risks
- Participate in key risk management committees, in conjunction with the Lead Risk Policy Assurance, across the Group representing the allocated Principle Risk portfolios and provide challenge, thought-leadership and direction on other portfolios
- Establish and maintain a coherent operating rhythm across the value chain (i.e. intra-risk, across AGL and 3rd parties) in support of the functional objectives

- Engage vendors to address current and future needs in addition to delivery/performance metrics
- Participate in key risk management committees, in conjunction with the Head Risk Policy Assurance, across the Group representing the Operational Risk portfolio and provide challenge, thought-leadership and direction on other portfolios.

Preferred Experience
- 5 to 8 years Risk / banking / Assurance / financial services environment experience
- 3 to 5 years experience as a Senior Risk Manager / Partner
- Exposure to Risk Governance and Control Committees

Education

Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (required)
