**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Manage and ensure well-maintained and optimally utilised office accommodation, buildings and facilities that provide a safe
work environment for TA employees within the region
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory health and safety requirements in respect of buildings and
facilities occupied and/or owned within the region
- Protect and optimise regional TA facilities and property assets through consistent maintenance and upgrading of buildings
and facilities as required to ensure retention of value and effective asset management
- Manage the identification of key business and commercial risks, and develop and deploy effective mitigation plans and
initiatives to avoid or minimise all risks identified
- Provide planning, management and maintenance expertise relevant to building and facilities management and asset
protection to the region
**_Position outputs:_**
Facilities Management
- Manage and maintain office accommodation, buildings and facilities of the Transnet Academy in the region, ensuring a safe
work environment for all employees
- Ensure consistent maintenance and upgrading of TA buildings and facilities as required to ensure asset protection, retention
of value and optimal management of TA facilities and property assets in the region
- Liaise with TA management regarding current and future office accommodation needs within the region, and develop office
accommodation plans with due consideration of optimal space utilisation, health and safety factors, business requirements,

- Oversee the management of lease agreements with external landlords where required
- Implement and manage compliance to Facilities Management policies and processes in the region to enable effective
management and maintenance of office accommodation, buildings and facilities, and to minimise financial, legal and
- business risk
- Report on the maintenance of regional facilities and buildings to the Specialist: Facilities Management utilising the formal
reporting protocols in place
- Ensure compliance with the image that the Transnet Academy wishes to portray in the maintenance, construction or
upgrading of TA buildings and facilities
- Plan and budget as effectively as possible for unscheduled maintenance in the region due to unforeseen situations and
circumstances, urgent upgrading of buildings/facilities and relocation of staff
- Ensure effective management of service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure optimal performance from service providers
Governance, Risk and Compliance Management
- Identify and analyse business and financial risk, implement effective risk mitigation plans and actions, and monitor
operations to ensure that risks are eliminated or minimised
- Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulation in a built environment
- Institute control measures and mechanisms where necessary to enable proper and prudent management of regional
facilities and property assets of the Transnet Academy
- Stakeholder Relations Management
- Ensure effective management of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including service providers
Financial Management
- Manage expenditure in line with business priorities and within budgetary constraints, and report deviations
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- B-degree in Built Environment or other relevant field with 6 years’ experience in facilities management of which at least 2
years in a managerial capacity OR Technical Diploma in Civil/Electrical/Facilities Management with 8 years’ experience in
facilities management of which at least 2 years in a managerial capacity
- Proven track record of experience in the built environment, facilities management and asset protection
- Project management experience is required
- Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
