The University of the Western Cape Library Services' vision is to be a strategic partner recognised for our excellence in innovative and relevant library services. Our Library mission is to enrich the learning, teaching and research experience by providing relevant resources and expertise to enable academic success and enhance UWC's standing.

We are seeking the services of a self-motivated and proactive faculty librarian to work collaboratively in a team, to service and manage the diverse information needs of the Faculty of Arts. The faculty librarian role aims to embed library services into faculty programmes and to promote UWC Graduate Attributes and student success.

**The successful incumbent will be responsible for**:

- Provide reference, liaison and engagement for the faculty information needs
- Develop information resources/collections in a variety of formats in consultation with faculty to support and enhance the learning needs and research output
- Enhance 21st Century literacies and UWC graduate attributes for student success and lifelong learning, involving learning and teaching duties
- Provide research support and digital scholarship services for assigned departments within the faculty
- Be involved in Marketing and public relations for promoting the library resources and services

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements **(Qualification and Experience)
- Appropriate University-based library qualification at NQF Level 8 (PG Diploma or Honours degree or 4 Year Bachelor’s degree at NQF 8) + 2 years’ relevant experience in an academic or research related environment;
**Alternatively**
- PG Library qualification + 5 years' public library experience

**Required competencies **(skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):

- Knowledge of current issues and trends in academic librarianship related to research and instruction
- Knowledge and understanding of the research process and methodology
- ICT fluency in relation to communication, presentation and formatting of information
- Excellent written and oral communication, and public presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Commitment to excellent public services and improving library user experience
- Initiative, flexibility and ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
- Commitment to continual professional development, improvement and learning
