Medical Admissions Administrator

You will be responsible for primarily handle patient admissions and medical aids as a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the healthcare facility’s front office and billing processes. Your responsibilities typically include:
**Patient Admissions**
Registering patients on arrival (either walk-ins or scheduled).
Collecting personal details, medical history, and insurance/medical aid information.
Verifying identification and eligibility for treatment.
Creating and updating patient records in the healthcare system.
Ensuring patients complete consent forms and other required documentation.
Liaising with clinical staff to coordinate patient intake and appointments.
Explaining hospital or clinic policies to new patients.
**Medical Aid/Insurance Administration**
Verifying medical aid/insurance coverage before treatment.
Communicating with medical aid schemes to confirm benefits and authorizations.
Preparing and submitting claims to medical aids in accordance with scheme rules.
Tracking claims status and following up on unpaid or rejected claims.
Handling patient co-payments, deposits, and billing queries.
Providing accurate codes for procedures (ICD/ICPC/CPT) to ensure correct billing.
Staying up to date on changes to medical aid policies and tariffs.
**General Administrative Support**
Filing documents and maintaining organized digital/paper records.
Assisting in compiling monthly reports related to admissions and claims.
Upholding confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., POPIA).
**EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS**
Matric
Tertiary qualification will be adv.
At least 3 - 4 years’ experience in a hospital and experience with medical aid billing software
Good computer skills including the medical system software programme and the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Own transport essential

Excellent communication
Attention to detail and accuracy with data entry and documentation.
Knowledge of medical aid schemes and healthcare billing.
Familiarity with healthcare management software (e.g., Medicross, Clinic Manager, or Medemass).
Problem-solving skills for dealing with claim rejections or coverage disputes.
Customer service mindset for handling patient inquiries and concerns.
