National Category Procurement Manager

**Qualifications/ Experience**
- A post Matric qualification in Procurement Management would be advantageous
- A minimum of three years generalist procurement experience, preferably within an FMCG/Food/Retail environment

**1. Category Management**

**Responsibilities**
- Maintenance of category product master
- Understanding product category management
- Rationalisation of suppliers and products in managing category
- Micromanagement of product suppliers and products within each category
- Growing each respective product category
- Reporting on category inflation and its effect

**2. Delivering Category Growth targets and incentives**
- Proactively managing supplier growth targets monthly and annually
- Monitoring and tracking supplier performances monthly to ensure targets are achieved

**3. Supplier Maintenance**
- Negotiating pricing with suppliers at a national level
- Effectively communicating pricing and all relevant information from suppliers to all branches
- Building and improving supplier relationships
- Undertaking regular reviews with suppliers, critically analysing the reviews, and assisting suppliers with branch concerns to improve branch and group performance
- Facilitating buying in on price increases to achieve maximum benefit
- Negotiating by-weekly, promotional deals from suppliers
- Analysing top product sales of each supplier in volume and value
- Understanding inflation of each supplier and its effect in terms of supplier performance
- Performing a foodservice overview for all categories and suppliers and reporting on it
- Monitoring competitive pricing

**4. FoodSafety**
- Ensuring all suppliers and their products comply with the required food safety accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements
- Aiding and assisting accredited suppliers to improve their scorecard

**5. BBBEEE**
- Liaising with suppliers to ascertain their current BBBEE status
- In line with category management, choosing the right set of suppliers that best assist the BBBEE status of the company

**6. Private Label**
- Identifying category private label opportunities
- Assisting the private label team in all respects with the successful launch of private label products
- Proactively thereafter managing each private label product in all respects within that category

**7. Stock forecasting and distribution models**
- Actively building and maintaining stock forecasting and distribution models with key suppliers to ensure that the supply chain operates at best level
- Assisting branches with holding models stocks
- Building and Maintaining a sustainable DC stock forecasting model for All Local Suppliers and Imports
- Ordering of Stock for the DC, both local and overseas suppliers

**8. ** **Advertising and Marketing**
- Actively managing each suppliers advertising activity for branches
- Ensuring that the group achieves maximum benefit from activity plans
- Formulating advertising and marketing plans with suppliers to actively grow volumes for branches and the group
- Managing the national broadsheet promotional activity
- Critically analysing all promotions with a view of improving it’s effectiveness
- Actively managing each suppliers annual advertising spend and effectiveness.

**9. National and international travel**
- Travelling nationally to all regions and branches periodically
- Performing a full category review for each branch and regions
- Reporting on findings
- Providing the necessary training to assist branch buyers with regards to each category
- Adding value to each branch in all respects
- Bringing buying and sales together
- Travelling internationally when required

**10. Imports**
- Managing the import process of products currently being imported in the category
- Liasing and negotiating with overseas suppliers and principals
- Looking for opportunities to import product suitable for the foodservice market
- Ensuring we grow the Imports Category
- Taking Care of all imports related administration with overseas principals and Freight Forwarding and Clearing Agents
