**Requirements**:

- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician

(Pr Techni Eng).
- 8 years or more relevant experience post qualification, in

protection and control systems including the commissioning of
high voltage primary plant and equipment.
- Must have a clear understanding of the IEC 61850 standard as

well as substantial experience of protection testing under that
standard.
- Appointment as a Responsible Person in terms of NRS 040

Switching Regulations.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Driver's license: Code B/EB.

**SPECIAL CONDITIONS MAY INCLUDE**:

- Required to work in all weather conditions.
- Required to work outside normal working hours during

emergencies and overtime and will be required to do
standby duties.
- Will be required to participate in the Essential Users Vehicle

Scheme.
Key Performance Areas
- Conducts commissioning tests on 11kV, 66kV and 132kV

protective relaying schemes in accordance with national and
international standards and standard testing procedures.
- Performing primary injection tests to ensure the correct current

transformer ratios, indication metering scales and secondary
wiring circuits including current and voltage transducers.
- Performing secondary current and voltage injection tests to

ensure the correct operation and settings of over current and
earth fault relays as well as feeder current differential,
transformer differential and restricted earth fault, distance
protection, bus-zone and inter-tripping protection relays and
associated control systems.
