POSITION: FOOD SAFETY MANAGER

About the Position:
The **Food Safety Manager** is to promote quality throughout by assuring compliance to an effective quality food safety management system (FSSC/GMP/HACCP) and the continuous improvement of processes through the facilitation of problem solving and the process of change management

Working Conditions:

The position will be responsible for:

- Knowledge of all South African regulations pertaining to the Food industry. E.g. R638, Foodstuff, cosmetic and disinfectant act. Etc.
- Utilise knowledge and skills to implement, maintain and improve the food safety system continuously within the standards prescribed in a food safety management system.
- Utilise knowledge and skills to manage the company’s Food Safety and Cleaning requirements by allocating tasks effectively to the Cleaning Supervisor and cleaners
- Ensure all customer audits and supplier audits are done within the scope of FSMS.
- Enforce and maintain standards of FSSC 22000, and ensure the factory is audit ready always.
- Utilise knowledge and skills to control, improve, maintain and oversee that the principles of Food Safety and Food Safety & Quality Control policies and procedures are implemented within the company in consultation with the Operations Manager
- Utilise knowledge and skills to investigate Food Safety related complaints and implement corrective measures in relation to complaints in consultation with the Operations manager; Quality Control manager; Production managers and relevant departments
- Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that the food safety management system runs effectively within the prescribed budget in consultation with the Operations Manager
- Manage and supervise all Quality Assurance Technicians, Cleaning supervisors, cleaning team leaders and Cleaners in the Food Safety and Cleaning department
- Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the company as determined by the Operations Manager
- Control and oversee administration of all documentation within the Food Safety and Cleaning department
- Take responsibility for and ensure that audits related to the food safety scope are conducted with positive outcomes
- Ensure continuous improvement of Factory operations in line with Food Safety.
- Training of workers in all aspects of food handling, HACCP and Food safety management system. Take responsibility for and ensure that food safety training is conducted within the food safety management systems
- Work in conjunction with the Maintenance department regarding the conditioning and replacement of equipment to ensure that equipment adheres to the company’s food safety principles
- Ensure all records pertaining to the FSMS and Quality Systems are in place with each department.
- Manage Communicate with Suppliers, Customers, Contractors as and when required.
- Hold regular meetings with staff / supervisors and relay communication from management.
- Monitor staff work performance and follow the correct company procedures in relation to poor work performance
- Manage the total cleaning department and food safety budget.

**To be successful in this role you will need to meet the below requirements**:

- Grade 12
- Ndip, Btech, Bsc, Food Tech, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science or an related qualification
- 5 years relevant working experience and above
- Fully Computer Literate (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint presentations)
- Strong Communication Skills and ability to deal with employees at all levels
