Fleet Manager

**Location**:Johannesburg - Gauteng

**Reporting to**: Director

**Overall Responsibility**:The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles. Fleet manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
**Focus Area 1: Team Management**
- Recruit, Develop, lead and motivate a high performing team.
- Set team targets and goals and hold team members accountable for goals
- Tracking, monitoring and evaluation of performance
- Manage all disciplinary action in relation to staff misconduct and performance.
- Guiding and mentoring of the team
- Talent and succession planning
- Cross-functional collaboration and alignment

**Focus Area 2: Driver Management and Development**
- Assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet
- Developing efficient driver schedules to maximize profits and manage driver adherence to schedule
- Monitoring driver behaviour and ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Develop innovative and effective training & development programs for drivers’ consultation with the HR Consultant
- Continuously assessing current and prospective drivers’ competencies and improve on shortcomings
- Perform periodic and reinforcement training of staff on mobile equipment, trucks, and basic safety training
- Assist with accident/ incident investigation and compile training plans to improve driving skills and prevent reoccurrences of accidents where applicable

**Focus Area 3: Process Management**
- Establishing efficient routes and transportation schedules
- Manage Process transportation incidents (incidents, client complaints, loss of products, etc.).
- Develops and administers vehicle/equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition.
- Monitoring and reporting all variances to scheduled tasks including deviations from routes, performance abnormalities seen from interpreting tachographs, performance abnormalities where productivity is questioned

**Focus Area 4: Procurement and Maintenance**
- Delivery of superior quality customer experiences within SLA
- Purchasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
- Ensure maintenance of fleet to ensure roadworthiness through preventative maintenance
- Stock take management
- Manage Service Level Agreements

**Focus Area 5: Operational Efficiency**
- Budget and Resource Planning by using relevant data and analysis to give input into budget preparation for the division/depot.
- Development and implementation of Fleet policies and procedures
- Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency
- Monthly Reporting (including subcontractor report)
- Deliver operational efficiencies
- Continually monitor the transportation department's efficiency and performance and look for ways to improve productivity, reduce errors, cut back on waste, and bolster the company’s bottom line.
- Load Planning
- Manage depot
- Analysing driver performance and vehicle utilization
- Monthly analytics and reporting

**Requirements**:

- Qualification in Logistics
- 5 years experience in transportation
- Knowledge of the transport industry
- Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures
- Experience in price, spec, and purchase or lease vehicles
- Budgetary experience
- Fully Bilingual (English and Afrikaans)
- Management of drivers experience
- Team Management Experience
