Axxis Field Technician

**Overview**:
Responsible for providing applicable assistance with regards to all product related services, training and coaching for blasters and blasting assistants which will include responsibilities for priming, loading, stemming, and testing and, after the execution of the blast by the Blaster, assess the work and report accordingly

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12
- Surface Blasting Certificate
- Advanced Certificate in Surface Blasting Technology (Academy of Explosives Technology)

**Advantageous Requirements**
- Explosives Management Diploma (UNISA)

**Experience**:

- 2 years’ demonstrated experience in surface mining blasting
- 1 year’ demonstrated experience in understanding and previous use of the AXXIS system

**Duties**:

- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with customers with the view of maximising BME’s position in the market
- In this process, required to actively market the AXXIS system
- As part of the service provision to customers, required to act as technical specialist by providing product and service information as well as providing training in the AXXIS system
- On an ongoing basis, required to make contact with customers so as to remain aware of their products needs
- Upon the placement of an order by a customer, required to evaluate the order and the customer’s needs, and then to provide technical product advice to ensure that the appropriate products can be provided
- Should the customer place the order, required to follow up and remain posted of all developments regarding the fulfilment of the order
- This is to ensure that the ordered product is in fact available so that it can be delivered in line with customer expectations
- In the event of the required product not being available, required to contact the AXXIS Operations Manager who will take the necessary steps to secure supplies
- Responsible for liaising and arranging with the Scheduling Coordinator (Monica) who will make that necessary transport arrangement.
- In making these arrangements, responsible for recording and ensuring that the correct product and the correct quantities will be delivered on the right time to the right customer site
- In the process of making these arrangements, required to liaise with the customer on an ongoing basis so that any changes in the customer’s blasting schedules or product needs can be monitored and that appropriate re-scheduling or re-ordering changes can be made
- Prior to the blast taking place, required to take photographs of the bench area that will be blasted which will be used to make pre and post blast comparisons
On the day before the blast, responsible for checking and ensuring that all blasting equipment is clean and in proper working order
- In the event of detecting any problems with the equipment, required to contact (Justin) to make arrangements for rectifying or replacing the equipment
- On the day of the blast (together with the customer) required to be present to check the delivery of the blasting equipment and to ensure that it is correct in all respects, this will include, among other things, AXXIS blasting line, Blasting Boxes

- Ensures that systems, processes and procedures are in place and managed to ensure timely maintenance is performed on equipment and vehicles
- Plans, coordinates and schedules maintenance
- Ensures that regular inspections are conducted on Boiler shop equipment
- Implements controls and does inspections to assess correct usage of PPE or equipment and to take the necessary actions
- Implements controls to ensure that maintenance and repair work has been satisfactorily conducted
