Reputable law firm with a diverse client and practice space is looking for Junior Employee Relations Specialist / IR Consultant to join their young and dynamic team. You will be involved in and be required to handle labour matters on behalf of clients from inception to conclusion. This role will be office based.
**Job Purpose**
To work directly with clients to provide legal advice and assistance regarding issues stemming from the relationship between employers and employees. To conduct research, propose solutions and draft legal documents and contracts. To be the point of contact for clients seeking legal advice in the Labour field, and to ensure that the client is represented well and within the law.
**Job Duties**
- Interpret and advise clients on Labour Law matters such as performance issues, disciplinary hearings, grievance procedures, union dealings, wrongful termination, retrenchments etc.
- Handle client matters from inception to conclusion.
- Research, draft and negotiate claims, employment contracts and other legal documents.
- Conduct research on how current laws and procedures impact cases and business.
- Review company policies, procedures and best practices to ensure they are compliant with current Labour Law.
- Interpret legal rulings, laws and legal documentation for clients and businesses.
- Provide legal assistance and advice to clients.
- Ensure proposed solutions are compliant with Labour Laws.
- Draft letters, appeals, external communications, and other legal documents.
- Manage regulatory and compliance related services.
- Manage and mitigate risk associated with various business practices for clients.
- Follow the Labour Litigation process where required.
- Draft and file motions for Court.
- Represent clients at the Labour Court or the CCMA.
- Negotiate on behalf of clients.
- Maintain up to date with changes in current legislation and best practices.
- Meet with existing clients and interview new clients where applicable.
**Qualifications**
- An Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Law or any related fields
- Any relevant Postgraduate qualification will be advantageous
- Admission as Attorney of the High Court of South Africa is an advantage
- Experience in Civil or Labour Litigation is an advantage
**Experience**
- 1-2 years relevant experience
- Experience in Labour Law is required
- CCMA experience is required
- Experience drafting legal documents such as contracts
**Skills and Knowledge**
- Sound knowledge of Labour Law, policies and best practices in South Africa
- Excellent research and written communication skills
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: R15,000.00 - R20,000.00 per month
