**Minimum requirements for the role**:

- Must have a degree Chemical Engineering or Equivalent Safety/Risk qualification
- ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) registration as appropriate (with required CPD) would be preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is essential
- Must have experience with Process Safety Management systems within the operations environment
- A Technical Engineering background (design and maintenance of storage facilities, project management, etc.) and a practical understanding of chemicals and operations management are important
- Must have experience in technical safety risk assessments (PHA, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA etc.) and responsible Care Process Safety would be ideal
- Good knowledge of incident investigation, including RCA facilitation, in-house procedure development, and Occupational Health and Safety Act and National Road Traffic Act as it relates to bulk road tanker will be required
- Conducting customer site inspections on offloading and storage facilities for bulk hazardous chemicals.
- Conducting transport audits on service providers that transport chemicals to customers.
- Attending to customer technical requests on storage facilities and handling of chemicals for associated fittings and equipment.
- Implementing turnkey projects for customers for upgrade and installations of new storage facilities especially on hazardous chemicals such as sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, sulphur dioxide gas, molten sulphur, oleum, etc.
- Attending to customer complaints or non-conformance submissions, carrying out investigations and submitting RCI to customers.
- Investigating transport incidents related to products supplied by the company.
- Conducting statutory inspections at customer facilities especially on pressure vessels storing and handling chemicals.
- Providing emergency advice and response on handling hazardous chemicals when there is loss of containment.
- Conducting product awareness training and process hazard analysis (HAZOP, HIRA, etc) for customers on handling and storing bulk hazardous chemicals.
