To manage a portfolio of client in the Secondary Agriculture Portfolio i.e. deliver best practice credit risk management methodology, Maintain a Satisfactory Controls and Governance environment and ensure Business delivery objectives are met.

**Job Description**:
Key Accountabilities:
Portfolio Management:

- Review and ensure quality credit assessments and present bespoke/bankable solutions pertaining to clients and transactions in the Secondary Agriculture portfolio.
- Actively partake and provide input into Deal Forums ensuring that credit risk associated with new and future business opportunities are pro-actively highlighted and managed.
- Network with stakeholders and clients to obtain a commercial awareness of the various sub-sets within the Secondary Agriculture market as well as industry specifics leading to improved customer solutioning.
- Manage and report on the end to end credit process ensuring service delivery exceeds the expectations of stakeholders (including Turnarounds, client visits).
- Proactively manage the credit risk on the portfolio by completing timely reviews, ensuring securities and conditions are up to date and monitored.
- Manage the credit sanctioning routes ensuring that papers are sent to the appropriate sanctioning authority.
- Obtain an in-depth industry understanding of local and ARO markets (where applicable) to better understand the risk profile of the Absa Secondary Agriculture portfolio.
- Remain up to date on legal changes as well as Basel requirements to reduce the risk associated with the portfolio.
- Present credit papers/reviews to the correct sanctioning authority/credit committee.
- Conduct client visits and manage these high-level discussions with Senior management of clients.
- To produce relevant management information and manage exposures including the maintenance of the relevant systems.

Quality Management:

- Ensure adherence to the credit policies and terms and conditions of facilities within the client portfolio ensuring no breach in compliance or audit requirements.
- Align and manage local credit decisions with Absa CIB credit process and appetite.
- Obtain a strong understanding of Absa CIB products and the risks associated.
- Understanding of legal documents relating to securities and traded product, including ISDA and CSA.

Stakeholder Management:

- Build strong relationships with both Absa internal and external stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate developments within areas of activity to all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure impeccable and timeous service levels.
- Ensure that all teams within the pod work closely together to deliver a high level of client service.

People Management:

- Build and manage the Secondary Agriculture team ensuring the delivery and compilation of high quality credit submissions and to further achieve excellent business results through continuous people development and mentoring activities.
- Enhance the skill base of the credit analyst pool through active management initiatives and leading by example, on the strength of technical proficiency.
- Ensure the development of a high-performing team through embedding formal Performance Development and informal coaching.
- Determine and analyse training and development needs for direct reports. Ensure that identified training is budgeted.
- Develop workforce planning and ensure recruitment strategy supports it.

Education and Experience Required:

- Degree/Honours in Accounting, Management Accounting or related Finance Degree.
- Minimum of 10 Years credit / investment analysis and credit sanctioning experience win an investment banking/ corporate banking environment with at least 7 years operating in the _Secondary Agriculture_ Industry.
