**Job Title: Head of HR**

Reports To: Exco // General Manager

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Bachelors degree in HR related field
- Honors in HR related field
- Master degree or MBA would be beneficial
- More than 7 years’ experience in a HR management role

**SUMMARY**

Ensure employees receive the proper compensation and benefits, oversee workplace safety, direct the maintenance of employee records, and manage overall employee hiring, evaluation and labor relations. Develop, implement and oversee training programs or procedures. Stay up-to-date with policies that govern employee rights, such as equal opportunity employment and sexual harassment.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**PRIMARY OBJECTIVES**:

- Promote a healthy work environment for all staff and management.
- Development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development and high performance.
- Develop a superior workforce by recruiting and selecting the right individuals and fitting them to roles most suitable.
- Manage all Industrial Relations functions.
- Manage payroll, commissions and provident fund/pension enquiries and submissions.
- Develop and initiate training and orientation plans for new starters.
- Manage WRSETA training initiatives

**DEVELOPMENT OF THE HR DEPARTMENT**:

- Conduct continuous studies of all Human Resources practices to keep up to date with new trends.
- Leads the development of the HR department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Establishes HR departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the company's strategic goals.
- Manages the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department and to track strategic goal accomplishment.
- Develops and administers programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
- Regular audits of the recruitment process.
**RISK MANAGEMENT**
- Provide sound IR advice to management and staff to ensure that sound IR practices are followed, which adheres to labour legislation and company practice.
- Manage risk by being compliant with South Africa labour laws.
- Stay abreast of all labour legislation and evolving needs of the employer and its employees.
- Organize internal disciplinary proceedings.
- Attend (or arrange) appeal hearings and internal grievance hearings.
- Prepare for and represent company at conciliation and arbitration hearings at MIBCO or the CCMA.
- Ensure that regular staff
- and safety meetings are held.
- Conduct regular audits at branches to ensure HR compliance.
- Ensure that all relevant contracts and documentation are submitted to the relevant departments and branches.
- Ensure that branches are informed of and familiar with COID-procedure.
- Ensure that Health and safety programme is implemented in accordance with the OHS-Act and the relevant documentation is maintained.
- Ensure compliance of the Health and safety programme implemented.

**PLANNING**
- Perform a needs analysis to determine actual vacancies and potential future needs to enable branches to function optimally.
- Prepare annual manpower/HR budgets for branches.
- Report on the cost of HR and current/future recruitment needs/drive on a monthly and annual basis.
- Compile Annual Bonus
- & Increase files.
