Archivist: Appraisal and Classification Systems

**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render archives and records management. This post is based in Cape Town, CBD.
**Minimum Requirements**:
**Recommendation**:
Working knowledge and understanding of the following: Public sector processes, report writing, facilitation skills, interpersonal relations skills, certificates in records management courses offered by the Records Management and Archives Services
**Key Performance Areas**:
Conduct appraisal of records for disposal purposes; Monitor compliance with clearance of records; Provide professional support and advice to stakeholders; Design, evaluate, implement and maintain records classification systems; Skills development and administration.
**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Records management principles and practices; Relevant legislation; Public service; Project Management; Financial and Statistical Analysis; Legal administration; Skills needed: Proven computer literacy; Written and verbal communication; Organising and research; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
**Remuneration**:
R 308 154 per annum (Salary Level 7)
Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
