On the Dot, a subsidiary of Media24 in Gauteng, currently requires the services of a **Commercial Manager** for our Specialised Logistics and innovative Merchandising Solutions business unit.
We seek to appoint dynamic and energetic individuals to assume responsibility as Commercial Manager, reporting to the General Manager. The position will be based at their offices in** Johannesburg.**
**Main purpose of the role**:
Responsible for searching and exploring our the local and markets for new clients and services to expand and strengthen the company's position in the market. Searches for joint ventures and market opportunities. Negotiates with relevant service providers, authorities, and organisations to ensure the company's products and services are recommended. Investigates existing marketing and business practices and recommends opportunities for improvement within the company. May also be responsible for the identification and initiation of development projects. Assists in achieving the development needs through investigations, viability studies and liaison with stakeholders. This is a new start up business providing courier ,merchandising and promotional service.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Lead and direct the formulation and implementation of commercial, national sales and marketing strategies and plans across the business units in alignment with the overall growth and business strategy for the newly formed business unit;
- Oversee the development of innovative commercial business solutions in line with corporate financial targets and requirements in South Africa and other targeted African countries;
- Generate marketing strategies and business plans for new business growth initiatives;
- Devise pricing methodologies through economic and business analysis;
- Conduct industry research to obtain information regarding competitors and market pricing to determine market opportunities and pricing / service positioning that will lead to sustainability on current accounts and growth in new customers ;
- Formulate business cases on the impact of new customer acquisitions or new revenue streams on EBIT, capital expenditure, operational efficiencies with regard to current practices and infrastructure and staffing capacities;
- Actively participate in high-level-sales process to negotiate opportunities and generate sales growth;
- Ensure open and effective communication channels with all stakeholders through various supply chains and levels in the organisation;
- Measure and manage service levels to clients by reviewing communication processes, operational processes to ensure world class service levels.
- Ensure effective marketing and brand building for the division by formulating marketing plans and budgets for the division, implementing various initiatives and campaigns to both internal and external people
- Continuously review effectiveness of relationships with contractual customers by exploring operations, reviewing processes, adjusting lead times, target areas or service types and review post-implementation to see if expected impact was achieved;
- Ensure continuous operational improvement is achieved by interacting with Operations to improve processes, systems and controls that lead to increased profitability, improved service levels and broadened services;
- Manage key accounts, create uniform practices throughout key accounts and ensure high-level compliance during customer interactions;
- Review growth, pricing strategies and negotiate updated terms with key accounts;
- Design and implement systems and structures for the effective management and reporting of sales-related intelligence and data in line with best practices;
- Review overall sales performance through analysing information and statistics obtained Manage contractual negotiations and service level agreements;
- Draft contractual terms with customers, critically analysing customer terms and conditions and reviewing payment terms and agreements;
- Analyse risk as well as reward structure associated with contractual offerings;
Manage and drive cross-functional relationships within the commercial department, and build strategic relationships with key clients and other internal and external stakeholders through regular and ongoing communication;
- Motivate, manage and develop a team to ensure achievement of predetermined targets for the division;
- Compile and manage the commercial budget for the division;
- Keep abreast of latest trends in the industry and adopt new approaches as required to expand client base and increase revenue; and
- Evaluate demographic data providers (research houses) for relevancy, negotiate agreements on software updates and procure licensing for such systems and information.

- A relevant business tertiary qualification in Logistics Management.
