Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 10/11/2024- Job PurposeThe lecturer must be able to teach at undergraduate level in the Biomedical Sciences Department with the aim of producing future Medical laboratory science graduates who will be able to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, advance to higher qualifications and participate in research. - Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Master’s degree in the field of Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification. - At least 2 year’s lecturing experience and/or 4 years clinical practice experience in medical laboratory diagnostic laboratories. - Be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Scientist. - The incumbent will be expected to enroll for the HDHET or equivalent to improve lecturing skills. **Recommendations**: - Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science degree and are registered with the HPCSA in one of the following professional categories: Clinical Pathology, Cytogenetics, Virology, Histology, Microbiology, Clinical chemistry. - Postgraduate teaching qualification. - Recent track record of research supervision and publication. - Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Participate in Curriculum development. - Perform academic administration tasks including those involved in the articulation programme. - Promote and participate in community engagement projects and maintain links with role players. - Be involved and assist with quality assurance and regulatory body accreditation. - Be involved in any other Learning, Teaching, Assessment and administrative skills as required by the department. - Identify at risk students, develop intervention strategies and monitor student progress. - Plan, coordinate and supervise academic activities. - Assisting with departmental initiatives, encompassing the development, support, implementation and evaluation of strategic and operational plans. - Conduct research and contribute towards departmental research output. - Competencies- Excellent command of the English language - Technical/professional knowledge and skills - Good interpersonal and high-level presentation and facilitation skills - Good organizational and time management skills - Good administrative skills - Coaching and mentoring skills - Teamwork and co-operation - Strong learners focus and adaptability - Quality orientated work ethic - Research skills - Support of diversity - Computer literacy in MS Office suite - General Information**Closing date**: 10 November 2024 **NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICANTS TO UPLOAD CVs.
