Our client is a prominent role player in the provision of specialised drilling equipment and services to the mining industry, locally and internationally. They have recently successfully acquired a tender for underground work at a mine based in Mokopane. A Site Manager is required to monitor and direct designated activities from start to finish, and direct and oversee various contractors and subcontractors involved in the project.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- Ensure the monthly production planning for the relevant section is done and executed in line with the requirements of the approved annual mining business plan.
- Review and set production objectives in line with the implementation and adherence to the relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Oversee, enforce and review inspections of working places, materials, products and equipment to detect defects, non-compliance or malfunctions and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks and achieve planned targets.
- Co-ordinate the delivery of section appointed within agreed safety performance, timelines, budget and quality.
- Control and coordinate all activities to achieve optimum production throughput, process efficiency, product security and information integrity.
- Provide input into the departmental budget.
- Manage the budget for the area of responsibility.
- Responsible for the generation of cost-saving ideas.
- Provide mining expertise and skills to the operation; advising on mining solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the operation.
- Ensure capacity and bench strength of the functional talent pool by coordinating, directing and leading mining talent in the area of responsibility.
- Engage internal and external stakeholders on mining-related matters, and support the operation on mining-related engagement.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective/sound communication system within the operation.
- Ensure that all mining reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
- Coordinate, control the preparation and ensure the timeous reporting of production results, records and reports.
- Review and analyse progressive production performance statistics and investigate action plans to mitigate deviations to ensure the effective achievement of the annual production plan.
- Evaluate and implement mining production processes, systems, products or new developments to integrate opportunities and mitigate deficiencies to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with mining best practices, policies and plans.

**Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience**
- Blasting Certificate OR National Certificate Rock Breaking Underground Hard Rock Level 3
- Mine Overseers Certificate of Competence
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Shift Boss in an underground environment
- Minimum of 3+ year managing a project carrying a 2.6.1 legal appointment
- Computer Literacy and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate);
- Valid Drivers’ License.
- BTech Diploma or BSc Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology advantageous
- Experience in mechanised and/or massive mining practices advantageous
