General Reinsurance, Johannesburg Branch (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for** **Branch Manager/Treaty Account Executive** in our **International Facultative **division.

**Key Responsibilities**

The role has 2 facets, one leading the Property Facultative team in South Africa, the second being the Treaty account management role responsible for the development and profitability of the treaty business in the region. The branch territory is Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

- People Management
- Branch planning, oversight, and execution identifying, generating, and retaining profitable treaty and facultative business
- Interaction with corporate departments such as claims, accounting, actuarial etc
- Active Underwriting and providing of technical assistance and guidance for the facultative underwriters, including account risk discussions and in branch training
- Assistance and guidance with marketing preparation, client interaction, and follow up
- Keeping abreast of changes/developments in the broader insurance marketplace and communicating those internally to the various teams
- Marketing and underwriting responsibilities for allocated clients
- Branch operational organization and administration
- Building your own, and Gen Re’s profile in the market
- Working closely with the treaty underwriters to agree and align strategies and actions to achieve the Underwriting profitability goals for both the overall portfolio and target/segments and/or clients
- Negotiation of pricing, terms & conditions on both individual risks and treaties

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Experience in Individual Risk Property underwriting as well as a solid understanding of treaty/reinsurance products
- The ability to build lasting relationships with clients
- The facultative manager role is a player/manager role and includes client and submission work allocation (alongside other branch underwriters). The role is thus marketing production in addition to management.
