National Claims Manager

What will you do?
We have an exciting opportunity for a National Claims Manager at Echelon, a division of Santam. The incumbent reports to the Head of the division at an EXCO level. The incumbent is required to be multi-skilled, have a very strong claims technical background, and be an excellent manager of people. This person would be responsible for the smooth running of the claims department (Motor, Non-Motor, Liability), and ensuring that the management of this department meets the Company’s claim’s philosophy and protocols at every level.
This role will be based at our Sunclare offices in Claremont.
Key to this is ensuring that the claims supervisors and claims administrators adhere strictly to the following:
1. Service level agreements
2. Approved claims authorities
3. Separation of claims duties
4. Management of volumes and conflicts of interest
5. Oversight and direct management of complex claims

Qualifications and Experience
- Matric
- NQF4 in short term insurance
- RE level 1
- Minimum 5 year’s Senior Management experience
- 6 – 8 years experience in the High Net Worth personal lines insurance
- Previous experience in underwriting (preferred)
Knowledge and Skills
- Very strong managerial, proven leadership and inter-personal skills
- Strong high-net-worth technical and product knowledge in claims and underwriting
- Analytical and logically minded
