The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, with experience in programme coordination, learning material development, and staff management. They will be passionate about education and committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences that meet the needs of our students.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministration and Operational
- Chair weekly lecturer meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members.
- Assist with aspects of programme accreditation to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings to inform programme development and improvement.
- Set up programme curriculum structures on the Learning Management System (LMS) according to accreditation requirements.
- Upload learning material to the LMS to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Analyse and report on national results to inform programme improvement and student support strategies.
- Approve student applications to ensure they meet programme requirements and are prepared for success.
Assessment and Moderation
- Moderate all formative assessments to ensure consistency and fairness in grading.
- Identify areas of concern on formative assessments and provide corrective action plans to support student growth.
- Monitor that students receive quality feedback on assessment to inform their learning and development.
- Coordinate internal and external moderation on summative assessment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Identify areas of concern as a result of moderation and propose and implement corrective action to improve programme quality.
- Quality assure exam schedules and exam venues to ensure smooth and secure delivery.
Programme Content
- Develop and review learning material to ensure it is relevant, engaging, and aligned with programme outcomes.
- Coordinate the development and review of learning material by appointed developers to ensure consistency and quality.
- Quality assure the content of learning material developed to ensure it meets programme standards.
- Prepare and deliver a programme review report based on PAC, student, and lecturer evaluations, as well as industry research results.
Staffing
- Conduct staff performance reviews to assess employee progress and identify areas for development.
- Identify required staff development opportunities to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Develop staff development plans to support employee growth and career advancement.
Student Support
- Liaise with Campus Operations Managers to identify students at risk and develop targeted support plans.
- Develop a student support plan to ensure timely and effective intervention and guidance.
- Monitor implementation of the support plan to ensure its effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum NQF-8 qualification in an appropriate field, such as education or a related field.
- A Master's degree would be advantageous, particularly in a relevant field.
- 3-5 years' lecturing experience in higher education, with a proven track record of success and innovation.
- 2 years' experience in learning material development, with expertise in creating engaging and effective educational content.
- Knowledge of CHE requirements and regulatory frameworks governing higher education in South Africa.
