About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team at Old Mutual. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating compliance activities for the Compliance Market Conduct and Product Team within the Group Compliance Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to the Group Compliance Team in overseeing the day-to-day 2nd line compliance activities for the Product area.
  • Monitor and report on compliance activities as outlined in the Annual Group Compliance Monitoring Plan.
  • Identify compliance focus areas and assist the business in building effective Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs) and documenting them in the risk management system (CURA).
  • Engage with operational management to discuss non-compliance and review actions implemented to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and/or support areas of responsibility with regulatory change items.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly compliance feedback to the heads of the Group Functions and Quarterly 2nd line Compliance Reporting.
  • Provide 2nd line compliance sign-off on business documents and initiatives in line with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Matric
  • Legal Qualification (LLB / BCom Law / BA Law)

Desirable Skills

  • IT Skills: Ability to utilise software like MS Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Report Writing: Ability to write reports to operational management
  • Presentation skills: Ability to present to operational management
  • Analytical: Ability to analyse complex, interrelated data and information
  • Planning and Organising: Proficient planning and organising ability

Experience

  • 5 years relevant work experience is preferred
  • Has a detailed knowledge of the financial services industry
