About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Raw Materials Specialist to join our team at Assign Services (Pty) Ltd. in Sandton.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the stacking of raw materials to ensure safety and FIFO compliance.
  • Process all wadding materials transactions on the system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee the transfer of materials to machines and finished goods to storage areas, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Verify correctness of transactions in WMS and SYSPRO systems.
  • Coordinate with machine operational staff to record material flow correctly from/to warehouses and bin locations.
  • Reconcile physical and system stock daily to maintain accuracy.
  • Prepare for and execute stock counts to ensure inventory integrity.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization throughout the facility.
  • Ensure accurate completion of NCRs for rejected raw materials daily.
  • Collaborate with the group supply planner to arrange upliftment of rejected materials and prevent backlogs.
  • Monitor pallet stocks to ensure sufficient supply to the converting factory without interruptions.
  • Report maintenance issues and breakdowns to MHE and coordinate cover plans as needed.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage and optimize space utilization.
  • Implement labeling and identification systems for easy stock count and management.
  • Develop strategies for managing redundant materials, including write-off, sale, or reuse options.
  • Communicate BOM inaccuracies to the group supply planner using the trial kit process.
  • Drive compliance with poly and wadding materials usage in the converting plant, minimizing waste through daily escalation.
  • Ensure proper wrapping, labeling, weighing, and placement of butt reels and rejected reels.
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure properly completed NCRs for removed reels from rewinders, escalating non-compliance as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
  • Studies in a supply chain related field (BPIM or PPIM) would be beneficial.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in FMCG manufacturing and materials management environments.
  • Self-confident, initiative-driven, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
  • ERP system knowledge, preferably SYSPRO.
  • Ability to adhere to procedures and controls, setting them when necessary.
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Physically fit, able to perform ad-hoc lifting tasks.
  • Team management skills, applying disciplinary processes when required.
  • Safety-oriented work practices and adherence to ERP system procedures.
