Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Composite Design and Technical Documentation Specialist to join our team at Robertson and Caine.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in composite design and technical documentation to contribute to our company's success. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing composite components and deck gear, creating technical documents, and ensuring compliance with certification standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop composite components and deck gear, ensuring they meet structural requirements, functional requirements, and certification standards.
  • Create CAD models (2D & 3D) and complete calculations for the design and specification of composite components and deck gear.
  • Conduct costing analyses and material forecasts for prototype development.
  • Research new parts or materials to evaluate viability for new product development or engineering change requests.
  • Promote quality assurance by completing critical quality checks during new part prototyping or ECR implementation.
Technical Documentation and Administration
  • Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, including drawings, CNC files, and standard operating procedures.
  • Update the status of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and provide feedback to relevant parties on progress.
  • Maintain administrative documentation associated with the functioning of the Design & Technical Engineering Department.
Stakeholder Support
  • Provide technical input and support to the Tooling Department, Production, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Process Engineers, Logistics & Stores Departments, Warranty, Commissioning, and Technical Purchasing.
  • Ensure seamless communication with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of new designs and processes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant tools.
Salary

The estimated salary for this role is R850,000 - R1,200,000 per annum, depending on experience.
