Travel Consultant for Southern Africa

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior FIT Travel Consultant to join our team at Black Pen Recruitment.
Job OverviewThe successful candidate will be responsible for designing and preparing travel itineraries in Southern Africa for FIT clients, ensuring that each program meets the client's brief, budget, needs, and capabilities. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Responsibilities- Design and prepare travel itineraries for FIT clients based on their specific requirements.
- Cost and plan leisure travel programs within the company's destination portfolio.
- Ensure all processes, from client brief to booking implementation, accounting, and execution, align with company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients via email and phone regarding program offerings, answering questions, and addressing obstacles and special requests in a timely manner.
- Promote client inquiries to increase tourism into Southern Africa.
- Makes bookings, plans, and executes travel programs upon confirmation.
- Invoices clients for travel programs.
- Contracts suppliers and liaises with them during planning and execution stages.
- Manages workload efficiently, prioritizing key clients and urgent requests.
- Manages proposal response time and assists as needed.
- Prepares daily 'to-do' lists and sends them to the Team Leader and Director with relevant comments by end of day.
- Implements and maintains Smart quoting.
- Attends daily stand-up meetings.
- Practices clear, concise, and effective communication with clients, management, and the team.
- A German speaker with professional fluency.
- Diploma or degree in Tourism, Hotel Management, or Events Management.
- At least 5 years' working experience within the travel industry or similar environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Southern African destinations: South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique.
- Working knowledge of the Leisure Travel Industry.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proven track record in its use.
- Knowledge of WETU and Travelogic an advantage.
- Experience in planning and executing FIT Travel Programs.
This role is located in Cape Town, South Africa, and offers a competitive salary of R1,200,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
