Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recycling Operations Director to lead our Material Recycling Facilities in the Gauteng region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of all aspects of our recycling operations, with a focus on creating an efficient, profitable, and safe working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Personnel Management
    • Manage and develop a team of staff members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and training to meet production targets and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
    • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management to support the growth and development of staff members.
    • Foster a positive and respectful work culture, promoting open communication, teamwork, and collaboration among staff members.
  • SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality)
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to SHEQ, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and emergency response planning.
    • Develop and implement procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents, ensuring a safe working environment for staff members and contractors.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to SHEQ standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Production and Logistics
    • Oversee the efficient processing and sale of recyclable materials, ensuring maximum revenue and minimizing costs.
    • Develop and implement plans to improve production efficiency, productivity, and quality, including process improvements, equipment maintenance, and training programs.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, logistics providers, and customers to ensure smooth delivery of materials and products.
  • Reporting and Administration
    • Prepare and submit regular reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators, production metrics, and financial data.
    • Manage and maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and customer interactions, using software systems to track and analyze data.
    • Coordinate with finance and HR departments to ensure compliance with financial and administrative procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in the waste management or recycling industry.
  • Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing revenue.
  • Strong understanding of SHEQ principles and practices, including risk management, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff members.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Estimated Salary: R750,000 - R900,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
